“Yoga makes me feel alive. It is the place and the way that I reconnect with myself. In yoga, I can hang up my ‘toughness’, and move, feel, flow intuitively. In fact, doing so actually helps me to feel even more powerful.”

Ashley Gangloff

Ashley loves trying new things–she is a student at heart and loves learning for learning’s sake as well as learning to teach. Ashley is passionate about sports and is especially committed to empowering women and girls through sport. Never afraid of public speaking, Ashley has experience teaching to small, intimate groups and to groups as large as 500. If she’s passionate about it, you can count on Ashey to come in hot.

Ashley is married to a coach and is raising three strong girls who are “even tougher than their mama.”

Ashley is a former elite athlete (springboard and platform diver) and has been a movement enthusiast for as long as she can remember. Ashley loves flipping, twisting, jumping, going upside down, getting strong, and learning new “tricks.” She started practicing yoga and pilates after her competitive career ended in her mid-twenties. After a serious injury, series of hip surgeries, and almost a year of using walking aids including a walker, crutches, and a cane, Ashley regained a sense of physical freedom on her mat that she feared she had lost.

Ashley became a 200 RYT in 2022; her mentors include Trudi Hawke, Heather Kasey, and Shelley Roupas. Ashley has additional training in pilates. Ashley has worked in and around athletics, fitness, and academics throughout her career. She has been a coach, event manager, and teacher-scholar, all of which inform her practice and teaching and loves finding creative ways to combine all these experiences and skills.

“I am inspired by people who are motivated to keep moving. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, when we’re active we open the door to a full life and I am inspired by those committed to it.”

“Perhaps the most difficult thing for me to do is surrender, let it go, release, but when I actually do, this pose is pure magic.”

Teaching Style

Ashley’s teaching style has been described as “physical” by her students. She often incorporates strength-based movements and a focus on core into her classes. Ashley’s goal is to offer clear cueing and coaching so anybody and any BODY can move through her class.

Ashley’s own experience with injuries and joint mobility challenges influences her teaching to include movements designed to properly warm up, move, and stretch the body before and after challenge poses and sequences.

Ashley loves a plank, pushup, and other challenges. She often throws out “for extra challenge, try…” On the other hand, she always provides modifications that are more supportive and restorative.

You’ll “stay, sway, bounce, twist, dance” to playlists that include a range of artists from Hozier to Snoop, Greenday to Lady Gaga, and everything in between.

Ashley views the opportunity to empower others in ways that they experience their own strength and capability as a privilege and honor. “I love activating others, whether it be their physical abilities or the confidence they have in themselves and their skills. Sometimes people just need someone to remind them, to say it out loud, to shine the spotlight on their awesomeness and invite them to step into it. I like to be that spotlight and to offer that invitation.”
