Lily Niehaus

“Whenever I need to feel more at home in my body, I do yoga.”

Lily Niehaus - Yoga Instructor at Bloom

Lily’s own challenges with a connective tissue disorder inspire and motivate her movement. She feels as though yoga is the one practice she can excel at and that helps her feel at home in her body. She continues to show up on her mat, not only to improve in her personal yoga practice or become a better teacher, but to be a better person.

Outside of practicing and teaching yoga, Lily is interested in alternative health therapies and is focused on understanding ways in which to support cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with movement.

Lily is a certified yoga instructor and has additional education in meditation and breathwork. Lily also holds a degree in exercise science. Her interests, experience, and research reside at the intersection of chronic pain and illness, exercise, recovery, and wellbeing.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION

Get to Know lily

“There is always a reason not to teach or show up to yoga (too busy, sick, don't feel like it etc), but it is those moments that you choose to show up, no matter what is going on that makes you a better person. Teaching yoga humbles me.”

Frog Pose
“It hurts, man. But that is where SO much tension is stored in the body. It is so deep, emotional, and intense, but it is incredibly purifying for the mind and body.”

Teaching Style

Lily encourages every student to make the practice their own. She reminds students that a practice is never perfect, but that it can feel perfect. Lily offers modifications for injuries or various levels, ranges of mobility, conditions, pain, or pressure.

“Showing up is the first step to the rest of your life as a yogi and it WILL look different every single day and that’s okay.”

Lily creates a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and play. She explains that it is okay to fall out of a pose. In fact, she says “I WANT you to fall out. Let it be messy; that means you’re really going for it, which is all I ask”

Lily fosters mind-body connection and hopes that every yogi in her classes finds extreme beauty in the practice of yoga. Lily is open, honest, and raw about her own physical challenges which allows Lily to be fully seen and to see others.

Lily’s playlists are diverse and create a vibe of movement and flow. Listen for beats from Khungarabin, Odeza, Remi Wolf and so many more.
